This page was set up to provide links to articles from local news media about Steele Creek. The primary source of articles was Neighbors of Southern Mecklenburg, which came out twice a week and for a few years had a full-time reporter covering Steele Creek and Pineville. News articles remained online for months. Their coverage of Steele Creek was thorough and timely. Each issue had a page devoted to Steele Creek and Pineville. Reporters were in regular contact with the Residents Association and used this web site for story ideas and other input.

But the Observer changed its internet policy and began removing stories from their web site after a few weeks. Links to stories expired quickly. Furthermore, in 2008 they merged the Neighbors of Southern Mecklenburg with the neighbors sections for York/Lancaster and Union counties, and Neighbors sections now come out only once a week. Stories about Steele Creek are now rare.

Another good source of news about Steele Creek has been the The Lake Wylie Pilot. Although their focus is on the South Carolina side of the lake, including Tega Cay and the Lake Wylie community on the South Carolina side of the Buster Boyd Bridge, they do provide some coverage of Steele Creek as well as areas of Gaston County near the lake. Articles have provided thorough, useful information about Steele Creek issues. Furthermore, news stories seemed to remain accessible online forever.

But the Lake Wylie Pilot changed its web site, and links to old news stories were removed. Their web site is now inconsistently updated. Specific stories from their print edition or even whole issues may not show up on the web site.

Therefore, since fewer news stories are available, they remain accessible for shorter periods of time, and searching for stories, adding links, and purging dead links is time-consuming, this web page is no longer updated to provide links to news stories.
