May 8 Democratic Primary for County Commissioners in Steele Creek

Vote!(March 30, 2018) Steele Creek voters will have a Democratic Primary for Mecklenburg County Commissioner At-Large and District 2 seats, but there will be no Republican Primary. Mecklenburg County Commission At-Large

There are seven Democratic candidates for three At-Large seats on the County Commission. The three winners in the Primary will face one Republican candidate in the November 8 General Election.

Democratic At-Large candidates:

  • Patricia (Pat) Cotham (Incumbent)
  • Gerenda Davis
  • Trevor M. Fuller (Incumbent)
  • Jamie Hildreth
  • Tigress Sydney Acute McDaniel
  • Ray McKinnon
  • Ella Scarborough (Incumbent)

Republican candidate:

  • Jeremy Brasch

Mecklenburg County Commission District 2

District 2 includes Precincts 78, 138, 147,  200, 228, 230, and 243 and areas of West Charlotte.

Two candidates will face off in the Democratic Primary:

  • Angela G. Edwards
  • Vilma Leake (Incumbent)

There is no Republican candidate in District 2, so the Primary winner will be unopposed in the November General Election.

  State Senate Districts

Mecklenburg County Commission District 6

District 6 includes Precincts 122 and 243 in Steele Creek plus Pineville, Matthews, Mint Hill, and parts of south Charlotte.

There is one Democratic candidate and one Republican candidate who will face each other in the November 6 General Election.

Democratic candidate:

  • Susan Rodriguez McDowell

Republican candidate:

  • Bill James (Incumbent)

Schedule

Voters may request absentee ballots for the May 8 primary now. Early voting begins on Friday, April 27 at 11130 S Tryon St (the former Hollywood Video in York Ridge Shopping Center). See the Early Voting Schedule. Voters must go to their regular precinct polling location if they vote on Primary Day, May 8.

Precinct 122 - Polling Location: Good Shepherd United Methodist Church
Precinct 138 - Polling Location: Olympic High School
Precinct 147 - Polling Location: E. E. Waddell Language Academy
Precinct 200 - Polling Location: Berryhill Baptist Church
Precinct 228 - Polling Location: Kennedy Middle School
Precinct 229 - Polling Location: Christ the King Lutheran Church
Precinct 230 - Polling Location: Steele Creek Presbyterian Church
Precinct 243 - Polling Location: Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church
