Help Teens Explore Careers--Olympic Speed Dating Event May 20

(May 5, 2015) The METS (Math, Engineering, Technology, and Science) School at Olympic High School will host a Career Speed Dating Fair on May 20th. They would like to invite career professionals from area businesses and organizations to participate.

The objective of the Career Speed Dating Fair is to help their students explore a variety of careers and to interact with career professionals. Volunteers will share information about their specific career and their personal experience in a series of small group discussions.

Career Speed Dating

A Career Awareness Initiative – Helping Teens See a Pathway to Success

Date:  Wednesday, May 20

Schedule: 
8:00 – 8:30 am: Orientation and continental breakfast
8:30 – 10:00 am: Career Speed Dating with students 

Format:  During the fair, students will be organized into small groups. Using a speed dating format, the students will have the opportunity to meet and interview with several career professionals.

Preparation:  Please share your professional experience. Students will want to learn: What is your specific job? Where do you work? What do you see as the positives and the challenges in your job? What school(s) did you attend? What work experience is needed to prepare for your job? How did you get interested in the career? What tips would you suggest for someone interested in this career? Please wear your work attire.
