2nd Primary is July 17

(May 22, 2012) Candidates in several races in the May 8 Primary failed to reach a plurality and will face a runoff in the Second Primary on July 17.

For Republicans in Steele Creek, the 9th Congressional District race will pit First Primary leader Robert Pittenger against Steele Creek native and resident Jim Pendergraph. Most of Steele Creek is now in Congressional District 9. (See the map below.)

Also in the Second Primary are the following statewide Republican races:

  • Lieutenant Governor: Tony Gurley v. Dan Forest
  • Commissioner of Insurance: Mike Causey v. Richard Morgan
  • Secretary of State: Kenn Gardner v. Ed Goodwin
  • Supt. of Public Instruction: Richard Alexander v. John Tedesco

Democrats in Steele Creek will only have one race on their ballot:

  • Commissioner of Labor: Marlowe Foster v. John Brooks
