Staff Changes for Observer's Neighbors Section

(February 23, 2008) The Neighbors of Southern Mecklenburg section of the Charlotte Observer provides news and features about Steele Creek and other parts of Southern Mecklenburg County to Observer readers each Thursday and Sunday.

Kirsten Valle been the reporter for Steele Creek and Pineville since the section debuted in August 2006, but she has accepted a job as a business reporter with the Observer. Melinda Johnston is the new reporter covering Steele Creek.

Leigh Dyer is now the editor of the Neighbors of Southern Mecklenburg. She formerly wrote the "Living Here" column for the Observer. Katharine Dale gathers calendar news, club listings, people news, and other listings for Neighbors.

Kirsten has done and excellent job covering news and events in Steele Creek, and we wish her well in her new position. Steele Creek is experiencing a lot of change, and we look forward to seeing what Melinda will tell us about it.
