Public Invited to Hike the Trails at the Sanctuary on May 21

(May 12, 2005) The Sanctuary’s trails are now open and will be officially unveiled on Saturday, May 21. From 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. that day, the public is invited to take hikes – guided or solo – on the development's 20 miles of nature trails. There will be tours of the property available by lake and by land, the opportunity to see homes under construction and see examples of green building techniques throughout the sales center.

Some trails lead to Lake Wylie; one meanders past a waterfall. There are shelters along the way where hikers or bikers can stop for lunch or a rest. All the shelters and meditation areas are constructed of timber from the Sanctuary.

One thing is for sure ... future residents will likely count the trails and natural areas as some of their favorite elements of their neighborhood.

The Sanctuary is located off Shopton Road West on a peninsula surrounded by Lake Wylie. The Sales and Information Center is located at 11235 Wildlife Road adjacent to Shopton Road West, about a mile and a half southwest of Westinghouse Boulevard. For more information, visit the Sanctuary web site.
