STEELE CREEK NEWS

Association Annual Meeting is January 28 at Kennedy Middle School

(January 12,  2003) The annual meeting of the Steele Creek Residents Association will be held in the Kennedy Middle School Multi-purpose Room on Tuesday January 28 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

The featured speaker will be Wayne Weston, Director of the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department.  He will speak and answer questions on current status and plans for parks in the Steele Creek Area. Future area parks and facilities include the Upper Steele Creek District Park and greenways for Steele Creek and Coffey Creek. Completion of final phases of major parks, including the Thomas McAllister Winget Park is one of the department's priorities. Projects at Winget Park include softball upgrades, tennis courts, an enclosed shelter, a playground, a trail, and landscaping.

Also speaking will be representatives of the developers for three large projects that are coming to Steele Creek: Berewick, Palisades, and Island Pointe. (See link to story.)

Kennedy Middle School is located at 4000 Gallant Lane. Go west on Arrowood Road past S Tryon Street (Hwy 49) and through the Whitehall Office Park. Continue past the interchange of Future I-485 and past the stop light at Sandy Porter Road. Arrowood Road changes to Brown-Grier Road at this intersection. Kennedy Middle School is about 1/4 mile on the right. Enter from Gallant Lane. Come through the main front door. The Multi-purpose room is straight ahead, but you'll probably have to go around to one side or the other to enter.
