West Transit Corridor Public Meeting on August 29

(August 16,  2002) The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is developing plans for rapid transit services along five corridors radiating from central Charlotte. The light rail route along the south corridor, which parallels South Boulevard, is pretty well set, but CATS is still considering various alternatives for the other four corridors.

CATS is having a series of open house forums in August. The meeting on the west corridor is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 29 at the Student Life Center at the CPCC West Campus at 3210 CPCC West Campus Drive. (Take Morris Field Drive from Billy Graham Parkway east towards uptown. CPCC West Campus Drive is the first street on the right.)

CATS is considering several alternative alignments. Two alignments being considered generally follow West Boulevard and Byrum Drive on the south side of the airport and terminate at Dixie River Road.  Other alignments follow Wilkinson Boulevard on the north side of the airport.

The western line may be either light rail transit, bus rapid transit, or a combination of the two.

Plan to attend the forum and
