Early Voting Starts October 26 at Steele Creek Martial Arts near Aldi

(October 12, 2023) Early Voting for the 2023 General Election starts on Thursday, October 26 at the former Steele Creek Martial Arts at 10720 South Tryon Street (near Aldi).

All Mecklenburg County residents can vote for three at-large School Board seats and for the 2023 School Bond. Charlotte residents can also vote for Mayor, four City Council at-large seats, and the district representatives. All of Steele Creek within Charlotte is in City Council District 3. Current District 3 Representative Victoria Watlington is running for an at-large seat, so Steele Creek will have a new representative after this year's election. Early Voting for the 2023 General Election starts on Thursday, October 26 and ends on Saturday, November 4 at the former Steele Creek Martial Arts at 10720 South Tryon Street (near Aldi) and eight other sites. Early Voting at the Hal Marshall Building begins on October 19. See map and schedule for Steele Creek below.

Vote at any Early Voting site during Early Voting or vote at your local precinct polling location on on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7 .

  • Precinct 228 - Kennedy Middle School
  • Precinct 229 - Christ the King Church

School Board members serve four year staggered terms. Three At-Large members will be elected in 2023. The district members are up for election in 2025.

The School Bond includes two projects in Steele Creek and two nearby:

  • Berryhill School - Offsite replacement; demolish building - $104,286,451
  • E.E. Waddell High School - DESIGN ONLY- Building addition to support program(s) - $1,563,349
  • New middle school #3 - 54 classroom baseline facility on HWY 160 to relieve Southwest and Kennedy middle schools (possible Quail Hollow) - $98,436,153 (The new middle school will be on Hwy 160 about half way between Hamilton Road and the South Carolina state line.)
  • Steele Creek Elementary School - Onsite replacement with 45 classroom baseline facility - $80,830,528 (Future projects include replacement of Kennedy Middle School and portions of Olympic High School. CMS will develop a consolidated plan for these three adjacent campuses.)
