Current Rezoning Petitions in Steele Creek for April 2023

(April 4, 2023) The next zoning meeting of the Charlotte City Council is scheduled for Monday, April 17 beginning at 5:00. Please monitor the City Council meeting schedule and agenda HERE. The Charlotte City Council approved the following petition at its March 20, 2023 meeting.

2022-008 - Southeast of I-485 and Steele Creek Road (Clearview Acres subdivision). To accommodate a multi-use development with up to 350 multi- family dwelling units and uses permitted in the NS (Neighborhood Services) zoning district. The Charlotte City Council approved the following petitions at its December 19, 2022 meeting.

2022-003 - Joy Homes. Up to 29 single-family attached (townhome) units on south side of South Tryon Street between Tamarack Drive  and Greybriar Forest Lane. Parcel # 21912414, 21912415. 21912421

2022-051 - Approximately 4.98 acres located on the south side of Sam Neely Road adjacent to the Greycrest neighborhood. To allow development of a residential community with up to 24 single-family attached units (townhomes). Parcel # 19943294

The following petitions had public hearings and will have decisions by the City Council soon.

2021-209 - Commercial building with drive through (Dunkin Donuts) east of Steele Creek Road; between Rigsby Road and Dixie River Road. Decision scheduled for May 15. Parcel # 20109103

2022-137 - Approximately 10.26 acres located on  the north side of Shopton Road, west of Pinecrest Drive. Accommodate development of a building or buildings that could be devoted to office, warehouse, and distribution uses. Parcel # 14125109, 14125110, 14125115

2022-140 - By the F.A. Bartlett Tree Expert Company. Approximately 8.30 acres located at the southeast intersection of Zoar Road and Thomas Road. To convert former Good Shepherd Church property to office, educational, and research laboratory uses and a residential use on the site. Parcel # 21704104, 21704107, 21704171

2017-065 - Apartments at the end of Rigsby Road east of Clearview Acres subdivision off Steele Creek Road south of I-485 near the Berewick Town Center. This petition is over five years old and has been replaced by a new petition 2022-008. Parcel # 20107504

2021-101 - Long Cove Club & Marina off Pine Harbor Road and Rainbarrel Road. To rezone the site of the existing club and marina to create conforming zoning district for the site. New owners have transitioned the facility from members only to a commercial enterprise. The Steele Creek Residents Association opposes this rezoning. Parcel # 19934202

2022-068 - Approximately 2.03 acres located at the northeast intersection of South Tryon Street and Wright’s Ferry Road, for uses as allowed in the O-1 (Office) zoning district. Parcel # 19955104

2022-120 - Approximately 11.6 acres located on the southwesst corner of Yark Road and Grand Palisades Parkway currently owned and occupied by the Lake Wylie Baptist Church. To allow up to 115 single-family attached units (townhomes) and up to 14,000 square feet of retail. Parcel # 21710208

2022-154 - Approximately 6.5 acres located at the southeast intersection of Sledge Road and Shopton Road West. To allow development of a residential community with up to 32 single-family attached units. Parcel # 19907103

2022-159 - Approximately 10.78 acres located on York Road adjacent to Steele Creek Presbyterian Church at Pleasant Hill To allow development of a residential community with up to 62 single-family attached units. Parcel # 19961103, 19931104

2022-161 - By Pulte Group. Approximately 29.33 acres located at the southwest intersection of Steele Creek Road and Parkside Crossing Drive, south of Sledge Road. To accommodate development of a residential community containing 170 attached townhome units. This was formerly planned as the site of a new YMCA before the YMCA lost funding for this project. 2022-173 - Approximately 5.33 acres located at the southwest intersection of South Tryon Street and Nevada Boulevard, east of General Drive. Uses that are permitted in the I-2 (CD) (General Industrial, Conditional) zoning district. Parcel # 20316105
