(February 12, 2012) The 2012 meeting of the Steele Creek Residents Association will be on Thursday evening, March 8 at Southwest Middle School (13624 Steele Creek Rd, behind the library).

There will be a pre-meeting from 6:30 to 7:00 when attendees can meet, mingle and learn about non-profit groups and local government agencies who have set up displays with information about their services and programs.

Beginning at 7:00 speakers will address several issues important to Steele Creek Residents.

Randy Harris of the City of Charlotte Economic Development, Charles Wilkerson of the Arrowood Business Association, and a representative of the SouthWest Chapter of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce will discuss Creating Jobs in Steele Creek and other business and economic issues.

Captain Allan Rutledge, Commander of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Steele Creek Division, will talk about the new police station under construction at the corner of S Tryon Street and Westinghouse Boulevard, the public art that will be installed in front of the station, and crime issues within the Steele Creek Community.

There will be more meeting and mingling after 8:00.

If you are with a non-profit community organization or government agency that operates out of Steele Creek or provides services in Steele Creek and would like to share information about your activities with your Steele Creek neighbors, please contact us at info@steelecreekresidents.org. Tables will be available for you to spread out displays, brochures, and other information.

Although attendees can sign up for membership in the Residents Association (for $10), membership is not required. Everyone interested in Steele Creek is welcome.
