Residents Association Annual Meeting is February 25

(January 29, 2010) The site and date for the 2010 meeting of the Residents Association are now set. The meeting will be at Southwest Middle School on Thursday, February 25 beginning at 7:00. (At 13624 Steele Creek Rd, behind the library.)

Speakers will include:

  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg School Board Member (and former Olympic) Coach Joe White and CMS staff, who will talk about plans for three new schools in Lower Steele Creek and other CMS issues

  • David Nelson, Planner with Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Department, who will talk about plans for new parks and improvements to existing parks in Steele Creek

  • Officer Lisa Speas of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, who will give an update on the Steele Creek Youth Network

STEELE CREEK OUTREACH will be collecting items to make goody bags for the street homeless (the ones that do not go to homeless shelters). They will be collecting hand warmers, gloves/hats, juice boxes, fruit/pudding cups, hand wipes, hand lotions, granola bars, packaged crackers, and any other individually wrapped items that people would like to donate. For more information about this and the many other Steele Creek Outreach charitable projects, visit to Steele Creek Outreach or Steele Creek Outreach Blog web sites.

Several other community and government organizations will have folks available to talk about their programs and answer questions.

If you are with a NON-PROFIT community organization or government agency and would like to share information about your activities with your Steele Creek neighbors, please contact us at info@steelecreekresidents.org. Tables will be available for you to spread out displays, brochures, and other information.

Although attendees can sign up for membership in the Residents Association (for $10), membership is not required. Everyone interested in Steele Creek is welcome. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about what's going on in Steele Creek and catch up with folks you may not have seen for a while.

We hope to see you there!
