Comments: Hi! I'm opening Art Space Studio, a paint-your-own pottery studio, in RiverGate this January. Please look at my web site for more info (www.paintArtspace. com). Please note the "community" section of my web site: I have a link to the Steele Creek Residents Association's web site! I'm very interested in working with the SCRA to continue the work on the greenway. I live in Steele Creek and my business will be in Steele Creek - this community is very important to me and my family!

Comments: The new traffic light at 160 and not sure of the street name (near the lodge). I'll be the first to say that I was bummed out at first to learn that a traffic light would be put there but I have to say, I'm pleasantly surprised at the difference it has made in the outbound traffic in the morning. With that said, I can't say that I'm pleased with the impact on evening traffic. Somehow it's slowed traffic terribly. If I had to have it one way or the other, I'll take the better commute in the AM! Kudos to those that fought for the light there. Great work!

Comments: Info received at our e-mail address: The 30 acre area next to Shopton & Withers Road is being planned to become a new 60 home area. The homes will be two story, brick structures, 3,700 to 4,100 square feet of which 4 homes will have waterfront on Lake Wylie. The developer is Lennor. Development to start in 2007, one year to grade, 18 months to build out. Priced from the low $400,000. This area is south-west of the Shopton & Westinghouse intersection. The historic house on the land will retained and will sit on a 2 acre parcel.

Comments: Well, we're not moving to Berewick after all.. The builder (KB Home) slipped our closing date twice, built a house with crooked walls, uneven floors, and many other flaws that the consumer shouldn't be the one to find. We cancelled the purchase and bought elsewhere from a custom builder. Berewick buyers beware !!

Comments: I understand the frustration of those people at Hwy 160 & Shopton. They should understand the frustration of people coming up 160 from Hwy 49. By the time we (on 160) get to Shopton, we've already been in stop and go traffic from around Sledge Road. A stoplight at 160 & Shopton is just going to make it that much worse for those of us who have been creeping along in traffic for 20 minutes. The unfortunate part here is that those developments along Shopton were allowed to go in without having the infrastructure (road networks) in place to handle that development.

In regards to the stoplight at 160 and Shopton Rd W, the light poles are slated for installation on September 13, 2006 and the lights should be up and operational within a few days after that. Hurray to CDOT and Duke!!! ******************** Sept 25 and nothing yet.

Comments: I haven't seen any movement toward a traffic light at 160/Shopton West. For those of us Steele Creek residents that battle that intersection every morning we know the frustration of waiting in a 20 min line to make a left or right for that from Shopton W onto 160. If you come that way between 7-8 am or 5-6 pm., give those people a break and let them out. All it takes is for two cars to stop for 2 mins and be patient to allievate the 20 min. frustration of someone in that line. I stop everyday when there is a line to let people out. Let's work together as a community for a temporary solution until the DOT can help us.
